You can! But not yet. First, you have to become certified to become a Proctor of the workshop you want to run. So, what does it take to do that?

If you're here and wondering who can request a workshop, or how you can qualify to request a workshop, please read the following, and also you may want to check out the FAQ.

Who can be a proctor

Cisco employees and Cisco partners are eligible to be a proctor for a specific workshop, after completing the qualifications for that workshop.  A workshop proctor is able to both request and run workshops.

How to qualify as a proctor

In order to qualify as a proctor for a specific workshop, the Cisco employee or partner must complete the following:

  • Attend and participate in the workshop, complete the exercises and knowledge checks as a typical attendee would, and attain a completion certificate
  • Attend and complete the workshop-specific "Train the Trainer" session, and attain a completion certificate
  • Submit a request to the workshop owner group, who will review and assign proctor status. The request should be submitted to the appropriate workshop administrator group mailer for that workshop.  Please see the FAQ for specific mailer.

What does a proctor do

A proctor has responsibilities for ensuring a workshop runs smoothly:

  • Requesting the workshop creation, with specific location, timezone, and start time. Only qualified proctors can request workshop creation.
  • Providing the initial presentation at the workshop (optional to have another Cisco employee or partner who is present do this). This provides important information to workshop attendees.
  • Managing the logistics of ensuring that workshop attendees can access the workshop
  • Addressing customer questions throughout the workshop
  • Addressing any logistical or technical challenges with executing the workshop, leveraging assistance from workshop support resources.
